“How to Design Your Kitchen Like a Pro”

Do you like to bake? Would you like to design your own kitchen?

Do you have a large floor plate, or a small one?

Follow this basic steps and you can get a professional kitchen layout yourself.

  1. Start with the work triangle. (The work flow circulate among sink, stove/range, and refrigerator)

  2. Place them in efficient proximity (about 4 to 9 feet apart).

  3. Divide the space into functional zones: such as preparation zone, cooking zone, cleaning zone, and storage zone. Don't forget to give those areas enough countertop to "land". (aka, the landing space.)

4. Design your kitchen with a common shape, such as an L shape, U shape, or gallery style.

5. Ensure you leave your kitchen with clear walkways. Generally, it is recommended to have path that is 42 to 48 inches wide. If you want to design an ADA-compliant unit, 40-inch-wide passage is required.

6. If you are lucky enough to have ample kitchen space, consider adding an island.
